If you want to register for any tennis, swim team or dive team programs you must now download the forms from our website, www.viennawoods.org. Return the forms and payment to the person or address indicated on each form. If you do not have access to a computer and need any of these forms, please call the business office at 703-938-0005.
Tennis registration forms are available by going online to
FORMS. Please the print the form(s) and mail the completed form with your
payment to register for our spring and summer tennis programs.
Swim team and dive team registration – we are trying
something new this year using automated registration via the web. Check back for more details in early April on
the website.
PAY DUES OR GIVE RENTAL PERMISSION
Annual dues ($390) statements were mailed in January. The late fee will apply if you did not either pay dues or authorize rental by March 5. Late fees are: after March 5, you must pay $410. After May 1 you must pay $440. All shareholders must pay annual dues or give the Club rental permission by March 5. Use your Dues Statement, which was mailed in January, for both options. There is a place on the Dues Statement this year to indicate you want your membership rented for 2008. The late fee will apply if you do not either pay dues or authorize rental by March 5.
If you give the Club permission to rent your membership for 2008, you do not need to pay dues, but the late fee must be paid if you fail to notify the Club by March 5. While your membership is rented, you will continue to receive all of the Club’s regular mailings. Your family may not use the pool or tennis courts until the 2009 season.
PROXY CARD for Stockholders Meeting
April 26
If you are unable to attend the stockholders meeting at 4:00pm on Saturday April 26, complete and return the postage-paid proxy card you received earlier. Choose only ONE person to represent you. If you enter a member’s name instead of checking one of the Directors, you may want to ask that person if he plans to attend the meeting to avoid your proxy being re-assigned to someone in attendance. One registered owner of the share must sign the proxy card to make your selection valid. If an asterisk (*) appears next to a name on your dues statement it means that only that person is the registered owner.
SELLING YOUR MEMBERSHIP
The Club has a long list of people waiting to buy memberships. If you are interested in selling yours, the Club can do so before the March 5 dues deadline provided that you send in your signed stock certificate as soon as possible. Memberships sell for $1,250. As the seller, you receive $1,220. Please notify the Club by phone (703-938-0005) or email (gwomack@viennawoods.org) if you would like to sell. The Club cannot issue your check until it has received payment from the buyer, so by contacting us right away we can get the process started.
NEW PHOTOS REQUIRED IN 2008
This year we are replacing the ID card file. All dues-paying members and renters are
required to supply a new family photo. Here is what we prefer: a single,
snapshot-size picture (4"x6" or smaller) in which all family members
faces are clearly visible. If non-family persons are in
the picture just x-out their faces. You can even use family album
"rejects", but remember that it is the faces we need to
see, not the panoramic view of the
A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY IN 2008
This year will mark Vienna Woods' 50th anniversary. Plans are underway for commemorating the occasion, and you can check on them periodically by going to The Golden Summer of 2008 webpage. FAREWELL MESSAGE
After nearly 14 years managing Vienna Woods' business
office, I am retiring at the end of October. I have enjoyed immensely my
years as Vienna Woods Administrative Assistant. Both the Club and I
entered the computer age together (don't ask about my prior experience!) and I
believe Vienna Woods is now communicating with its members better and in a more
timely way than ever before. This is thanks to all the wonderful support
from the Board of Directors, the Club's employees, and especially the 750
families that comprise the shareholders of Community Ventures. I feel I
know many of you personally with whom I have spoken only on the phone or exchanged
email messages. It has been my pleasure to serve you, but you made the
job even better with your kind words and helpful suggestions. Thank you
so much.
Gina Womack, who is taking over this job, is excellently
qualified and also understands the soul of Vienna Woods, having grown up in the
Club. I am excited and pleased about all that she brings to this
job. You will find her more than capable, extremely pleasant and very
responsive. Like many who started out as children at Vienna Woods,
chlorine runs in her veins. Vienna Woods means a lot to her and her
family and she will do an outstanding job.
Finally, a few words for all my waiting list
people: Hang in there! I know the wait seems interminable. I
have often wished I could "hurry" it up for you, or
"create" memberships for you to buy. But take some consolation
knowing that Vienna Woods maintains a firm policy of scrupulously honoring
everyone's position on the waiting list. No one, NOT ONE PERSON, jumps
ahead of anyone else in the waiting list for ANY REASON. The wait is
long, but that is because Vienna Woods is northern

Junior Matches
The junior matches are played on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 12. Matches begin Wednesday, June 18 or 25 and conclude Wednesday, July 23.
We need parent
volunteers to assist with driving to away matches and to help with refreshments
at home matches. We would like to have a
parent rep for each team.

Team shirts: We will
purchase team shirts at a cost of 10 to 12 dollars.
ADULT PLAY
Ladies Team
This year we will enter two ladies teams in the Northern Virginia Tennis League. One team will play on Wednesday mornings, the other on Monday nights. Players can play on both teams. If you are interested in playing on the either team contact Mary Ellen Giuseppe (day team) at 703 938-4528 or the evening team captain Sue Moulton at 703 703 938-4190. Practice for the daytime team will began, on Wednesday, April 9 from 10:00 to 11:30 and conclude on Wednesday, June 18th. The night time team will begin practice Monday, April 7 from 6:00 to 7:30, and conclude on Monday, June 16th. Gretchen will coach the day team and Tom the night.
Men's Team
Anyone interested in participating on the men's team should contact Andy Ollis (703 426-8668). Men's practices will be held on Wednesdays nights starting April 30 from 6:00 to 7:30. The Saturday matches begin in early May and conclude at the end of July 30.
Mixed Doubles Team
We will be playing in the NVTL mixed doubles league this year. Anyone interested in participating on the mixed doubles team should contact Wendy Hahn or Andy Ollis (703 426-8668).
Registration for the adult teams is $45.00.

Tournaments and Socials
Mixed doubles and singles socials will be announced and posted on the tennis hut.
Adult Clinics
Adult clinics will be offered in the spring and fall. Call Tom or Gretchen for more details. The spring clinics will begin in early April and run eight weeks.
COURT RESERVATIONS
There will be a sign up sheet posted outside the tennis hut beginning April 27. Members may reserve one and one half-hours for doubles and one hour for singles play. Members may only reserve one future reservation on the sign-up sheet at any one time. Reservations may be made by calling 281- 0458 (the tennis hut) from May 24 to September 1.
