VIENNA WOODS DIVE PROGRAM
We will compete again in Division 1 (of 8 Divisions) with our
returning divers, but
could use some new divers for our team. We are especially looking for
divers between the ages of 10 to 14. The Dive Team is
open to all pool members up to the age of 17.
Younger divers need to be capable of passing their patch test
in order to join. No experience is necessary to join and it is a fun
and rewarding experience for all team members. Dive team practice will
begin on the day after Memorial Day. Please
note that if you
are new to the team, new divers will have at least 3 opportunities to
dive in a meet.
Each team is allowed 32 divers.
- For Freshman divers, this means 3 dives – a front dive; a
back dive; and an optional dive (flip, inward, reverse or
twist).
- Junior divers must compete a front dive, back dive and 2
optional dives.
- Intermediates add another optional dive
- Seniors need 6 dives including a front dive, back dive,
inward dive, and three optional dives.
If your new
diver is still
attaining these skills, there will be meet opportunities for them to
dive. We have
approximately 42 divers this year. Given vacations, camps,
etc, a diver will most likely get to dive at a dual meet if they have
the required list of dives.
For each home meet, we are obliged to supply: a referee, 2
judges, an announcer, a meet secretary, and 2 table workers.
The visiting team supplies 3 judges and 2 table workers.
MEETS
For home meets,
we stretch at 3:45
and practice from 4:00 to 5:00.
The visiting team will practice from 5:00 to 5:45
and the meet will begin promptly at 6:00.
For away meets, you will be notified as to the report time at the host
pool. Volunteers need to be at the pool by no later than 5:45
and parents setting up need to be there by 4:45.
Its important that we know what meets your diver will miss.
Please email Lisa Campbell
as soon as you know.

DIVE TEAM PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Practice begins on Tuesday May 31st (The day after Memorial
Day).
Birthdate ages are June 1st.
May 31st to June 22nd
June 22nd onward
- 9:45-11:00 a.m. - Freshman Girls & Boys (those divers 10 years of age and younger as of June 1, 2011) & Junior Boys (aged 11 and 12)
- 10:45-12:00 p.m. - Junior Girls (aged 11 and 12), Intermediate & Seniors
* note: diving
boards are
open to all for use during this
time.
Note: For those
families that have both a freshman and a junior diver and would like
them to attend the same practice, please let Lisa Stickel know.
VOLUNTEERING
Like the swim team,
the dive team is run entirely by volunteers. It takes at
least 10 parents to run each
meet. We need each family to help at least 2
meets where
they can volunteer. Positions will be assigned
according to the
responses received. Please either email your team
reps the dates that
you are
available, or use sign up sheets at the pot
luck.
PARENTS
- we need
help
in judging and working the scorers table.
Clinics for these activities are noted above. Home meets
especially require all the help we can get. Judging
clinics are easy and very helpful.
The Success of our
program with
your children depends a great deal on your effort. Please
contact
your Team Reps or your Coaches with any questions on how you can assist.
Please let Lisa Campbell know how you intend to help out this
year so she can organize schedules.
